8/5/2023 0 Comments Google sign me outMy original concern was that Google may have been making it more difficult for people to use a VPN with an intention to track them, however I thought this update may be important to note as the VPN isn't in the equation and I'm getting the same behaviour. Similar to yesterday, I have my email (GMail) open in one tab, then I'm using a couple of other tabs to browse different sites/do a few things, and Google has kicked me out 3 times. So now I'm just getting kicked out of my account randomly. I haven't changed any settings on anything. So this morning (21 hours after the original post) I've been using the internet for a few hours and Google has signed me out several times, but I'm not even using my VPN. Part of the reason I take part in the sub is to learn and occasionally make posts so that other people like me who lack technical knowledge can find somewhere to start. If this is a security measure (which I could accept, though I don't know why it's only just started happening) I'd expect it to be consistent.Īpologies if I lack specific technical knowledge and this is obvious to some of you. (Thank you to IHAVESEEN for the discussion about the post wording, ensuring it's clear this is intended to be on topic for this sub)Īfter experimenting a few times by having my GMail logged in on 1 tab, then switching to different tabs and turning my VPN on to visit different sites, GMail logs me out about 7 times out of 10. I've seen numerous posts about the recent sudden spike in the use of Captcha's (and I've experienced it myself) and I wondered if, along with the Captcha's, this was tied in to Google making life difficult for privacy-minded users. To be clear, my concern here is that Google may be intentionally making it difficult for me to use a VPN with their services, and therefore potentially make it easier for them to track my location data, behaviours/patterns and so on. I'm new to the degoogle thing and haven't done so yet) (Yes, I know I need to switch from Gmail. Is this happening to anyone else? Any ideas why this would suddenly be happening? This has never happened before now and I've been using my laptop to surf the net like this for a long time, also using the same VPN client for the last 3 years, so as far as I'm concerned I haven't changed any settings or actions. Since yesterday, as soon as I turn on my VPN, GMail immediately signs me out. ![]() Occasionally I use a VPN when visiting some sites for privacy. Click your profile picture, and if you're signed in to multiple accounts, choose the account. ![]() ![]() Then, locate your Google Account profile picture in the top-right corner of the screen. I often check my email first online, then leave the tab open while I do a few other things on separate tabs. To sign out of a Google Account on your desktop device, simply open the browser of your choosing, and navigate to a Google service, such as Search, Gmail, or Drive.
